We Say

Heavy paint defects are where many compounds fall apart: either they don’t remove enough material quickly, or they cut hard but leave the surface hazy and difficult to refine.

H9.02 is built to solve that correction gap. It’s a true heavy‑cut compound designed to remove deep swirls, sanding marks and oxidation with a controlled, repeatable polishing cycle.

We like it because it feels predictable. The abrasive action stays consistent through the pass, and it doesn’t suddenly dry out or grab, which helps keep heat and dust under control when you’re chasing real correction.

In summary, H9.02 is our go‑to when we need maximum cut with sensible control, and we still want a finish that can be refined efficiently afterwards.

Key Features

Cut level 9/10 (Compared to others)
Gloss potential 6/10 (Compared to others)
Work time 8/10 (Compared to others)

Description

Koch Chemie H9.02 Heavy Cut Compound is a professional‑grade, coarse machine polishing compound developed for fast correction of heavily weathered paintwork. It is intended for the first correction stage where the goal is meaningful defect removal — deep swirl marks, sanding scratches, oxidation and other entrenched imperfections — before you refine with a lighter polish.

H9.02 uses an extremely homogeneous abrasive grain to deliver a very high cut level while still maintaining usable gloss potential for a compound of this class. In practical terms, that means it can remove significant defects efficiently without the finish becoming ‘chalky’ or unpredictable, provided pad choice, pressure and working time are controlled.

A key detail with heavy‑cut compounds is the balance between abrasive load and lubrication. When the carrier system is too dry, pads can grab and panel temperatures rise quickly; when it is too oily, you lose clarity and correction becomes slower. H9.02 is formulated to stay workable over a longer cycle without sticking, which helps you complete correction passes consistently and with reduced dust generation.

This product sits within our Cutting Compounds & Polishes collection, where it acts as the high‑cut anchor in a structured multi‑step correction workflow.

In terms of pairing, the pad is just as important as the compound. A dedicated heavy‑cut foam pad will keep contact stable, dissipate heat more effectively, and maintain a more consistent abrasive interface. For that reason, we normally pair H9.02 with the Koch Chemie Heavy Cut Foam Pad.

After the heavy‑cut stage, it’s normal to follow with a medium or finishing polish to fully refine the surface and maximise optical clarity. This is where you’ll remove any light micro‑marring from the cutting step and bring the paint to its best possible finish.

H9.02 is part of the broader Koch Chemie system, which makes it easy to build a repeatable process from compounding through to final finishing and protection.

Whether you’re correcting a daily driver that’s been neglected for years or pushing for a near‑perfect finish before protection, H9.02 gives you the correction speed you need, while still keeping the process controlled and professional when used with the right machine, pad and technique.

How To Use

1. Wash and decontaminate the paintwork (fallout removal and clay as required), then dry fully.

2. Mask sensitive trims and edges, and check paint thickness where possible.

3. Fit a suitable cutting pad and prime it lightly.

4. Apply 3–4 small drops of H9.02 and spread at low speed to avoid sling.

5. Increase to working speed and polish a small section with overlapping passes using moderate pressure.

6. As the compound begins to clear, reduce pressure for the final passes.

7. Wipe residue with a clean microfibre and inspect under strong lighting.

8. Follow with a medium or finishing polish to maximise clarity and gloss.

Pro tips

• Use less product than you think — over‑application increases smearing and can reduce cut.
• Clean the pad frequently (compressed air / pad brush) to keep abrasives cutting cleanly.
• Keep panels cool; if the surface heats up, pause and move to another section.
