We Say
The NexDiag NexPTG Pro Carbon is the flagship of the NexPTG range, built for professionals who need inspection data that is not just accurate, but defensible. This is the gauge for bodyshops, vehicle assessors, insurers, high-end detailers and collectors working on valuable or sensitive vehicles.
Where lower models focus on guidance, the Pro Carbon is designed for documentation and certification. It combines an extended measurement range with deep onboard memory, advanced coating analysis and official calibration certification, making it suitable for formal inspection workflows where results must be recorded and trusted.
If you’re deciding between models, the NexPTG Professional covers most advanced detailing needs. The Pro Carbon sits above it, intended for regulated inspection, appraisal and reporting where accuracy and traceability matter.
Key Features
Description
The NexDiag NexPTG Pro Carbon is a professional, certification-grade paint and coating thickness gauge engineered for high-accuracy automotive inspection. It measures total coating build across steel (Fe), galvanised steel (Fe+Zn) and aluminium (Al), automatically recognising the substrate to ensure consistent, interpretable results across modern vehicle construction.
With an extended working range of 0–3000 μm, the Pro Carbon is capable of analysing factory paint, heavy refinishing, and multi-layer coatings commonly encountered in accident repair and restoration work. This depth, combined with fast response times, allows detailed panel mapping rather than isolated spot checks.
The Pro Carbon features advanced SAPL coating analysis, large onboard memory and Bluetooth connectivity for structured inspection workflows. Each unit is supplied with an official calibration certificate, making it suitable for professional environments where measurement traceability and repeatability are essential.
If you don’t require certified inspection and reporting, the NexPTG Professional remains an excellent high-end alternative.

How To Use
1) Prepare the vehicle: Measure only on clean, dry panels. Contamination or moisture can affect probe contact and reduce repeatability.
2) Calibrate where required: For formal inspection work, verify calibration using the supplied certificate and reference standards before beginning an assessment.
3) Build a panel map: Take readings in a consistent grid pattern across each panel. The Pro Carbon is designed for identifying variation, edge thinning and refinished areas — not just producing a single thickness number.
4) Use advanced analysis: Review SAPL coating analysis data and stored measurements to support decisions around correction, repair or valuation.
5) Document results: Store and export inspection data via the NexPTG app where required for records, reports or client documentation.
