We Say

The vast majority of paint protection products should not be used on matt paint finishes and matt vinyl wraps, as they contain gloss-enhancing agents that can permanently damage the matt effect. Gyeon Q² Matte EVO is a quartz coating designed specifically to protect matt surfaces (painted and wrapped) for upwards of twelve months at a time. Developed in South Korea, it uses the latest in low volatile content silicon (Si) technology to lay down a micro-film of siloxane polymers that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to treated surfaces at the molecular level. Following application, Gyeon Q² Matte EVO provides long-lasting protection against bird droppings, bug splatter, brake dust, road salt and harmful UV radiation without altering the matt effect.

However, the benefits imparted by Gyeon Q² Matte EVO don't end with impressive durability and a high level of protection against the elements. Perhaps even more importantly, treated surfaces become strongly hydrophobic (water-hating). This not only results in impressive beading upon contact with water, but also encourages a high degree of self-cleaning (strong hydrophobicity results in more surface contaminants being picked up and carried away by rainfall and runoff, as opposed to being left in situ). This is difficult to achieve on matt finishes due to their demanding surface structure, but is very desirable because it results in the bodywork staying cleaner looking for longer, thus extending the intervals between routine washes and reducing the need for regular maintenance.

Description

Gyeon Q² Matte EVO is an advanced quartz coating that simultaneously protects and enhances the appearance of matt paint finishes and matt vinyl wraps. Developed in South Korea, Gyeon Q² Matte EVO uses the latest in low volatile content silicon (Si) technology to lay down a film of siloxane polymers that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to treated surfaces at the molecular level. Unlike many rival products developed for matt finishes, Gyeon Q² Matte EVO contains very little alcohol and therefore doesn't flash off rapidly, which makes the application process much easier. Furthermore, Gyeon Q² Matte EVO doesn't need to be layered to achieve its stated durability; only a single coat is required. These characteristics make Gyeon Q² Matte EVO user-friendly and well suited to the needs of both home enthusiasts and professional detailers alike.

Surfaces treated with Gyeon Q² Matte EVO become hydrophobic (water-hating), which causes rainfall and rinse water to bead up and roll off very quickly. This extreme beading not only looks good but also tends to pick up and carry away fresh contaminants, thus encouraging strong self-cleaning behaviour. In addition to these benefits, Gyeon Q² Matte EVO provides excellent protection against bird droppings, bug splatter, road salt and harmful UV radiation for upwards of twelve months at a time. In all cases the original matt (or satin) effect is fully preserved, although on older surfaces a degree of colour jetting (i.e. darkening) may be observed. Gyeon Q² Matte EVO is currently supplied as a pre-packed kit containing a 50 ml bottle of Gyeon Q² Matte EVO, a 100 ml bottle of Gyeon Q²M Cure Matte, a Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block, four Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes and an instruction booklet.

How To Use

You should apply Gyeon Q² Matte EVO in a dry place out of direct sunlight. To protect your skin, we recommend wearing PB Nitrile Gloves during the application process. In all cases, prepare the matt surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. Next, using the supplied dropping pipette, lightly wet one of the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes with product, wrap it around the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block and begin wiping it evenly on to the first panel, using light pressure and overlapping strokes. You should aim to treat no more than a single panel at a time, because after an initial volatilization period of 1-2 minutes you must then buff off the (still wet) residue as quickly as possible, i.e. before it fully dries out and begins to harden. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Super Buffing Towel, using moderate speed and pressure to fully remove the residue and reveal a uniform, streak-free finish. Using a bright light, check the panel carefully for any smears and remove them before moving on; failure to remove smears fully can result in them hardening to the point of being impossible to remove, so be thorough!

After all panels are treated the car must then be left in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 24 hours to allow the SiO2 coating to harden (if you wish, you can accelerate this process by heating the treated panels to 60°C for 10 minutes using an infra-red heat lamp). Finally, to reduce the risk of water spots forming while it continues to cure (full curing takes around 14 days to achieve), you should apply a protective topcoat of Gyeon Q²M Cure Matte (you should also avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 7 days). Please note that you must discard all applicators and towels after use, because Gyeon Q² Matte EVO hardens significantly as it cures, forming a residue that has the potential to inflict severe marring or worse if applicators and towels are re-used. Furthermore, after each use you must also replace the dropping pipette with the air-tight cap, and then wash out the pipette with hot water. Failure to follow these steps will result in any leftover product setting solid in the bottle and the pipette, rendering them unusable in the future.
