We Say
Bilt Hamber auto-balm is a very impressive product, but it's tricky to describe and categorise. This is because it serves a number of useful functions in addition to the main one that it excels at, which is corrosion prevention on painted and bare metal finishes. Bilt Hamber auto-balm takes the form of a synthetic paste, which is applied and buffed off in the usual way (albeit using a damp applicator pad). However, it also cleans very well (probably due to the solvent carrier it uses), and it also masks minor paint defects (e.g. wash marring and fine swirl marks) incredibly well (indicting that it contains fillers, or that the protective component has a much stronger filling action than normal sealants and waxes). As a result, it actually outperforms some of the all in one products we recommend, in terms of how well it prepares and seals less than perfect paint finishes in a single step. However, to label it as an all in one product would be a mistake, as its standout quality is the level of protection it offers, so for this reason we've settled on classing it as a last step product, albeit with added benefits. How to summarise all of this? Well, the finish it produces typically lasts for upwards of three months, but this can be extended if it is maintained with Bilt Hamber auto-QD. The look it imparts is somewhere between a good sealant and a good wax; clear and sharp, but glossy too. And the level of protection it offers? Simply unparalleled in terms of preventing the onset of corrosion.

Description
Bilt Hamber auto-balm is a unique corrosion-inhibiting synthetic sealant that protects and enhances the appearance of both automotive paint finishes and bare metal surfaces. Traditional sealants and waxes are generally formulated using acrylic resins and hard natural waxes, but when these products are buffed off the ultra-thin high gloss films they leave behind are not always substantial enough to provide adequate environmental protection. This is particularly so in the winter months, when the widespread use of road salt creates a highly corrosive micro-environment on our roads, and also in seaside locations, where salt spray poses a threat all year round. Bilt Hamber auto-balm provides an effective solution to these problems, as it lays down a film of complex corrosion inhibiting molecules that lock together tightly, thus enabling them to remain functional in an ultra-thin high gloss film. This molecular barrier is not only substantial enough to fill minor sub-surface defects and seal the capillary pore structure in paint finishes, but also to inhibit the corrosion of bare metals and bare metal substrates exposed by stone-chip and other penetrating damage. Bilt Hamber auto-balm is the result of thousands of hours of laboratory development and testing, and is unrivalled in terms of the anti-corrosion protection it imparts.

How To Use
Bilt Hamber auto-balm should be applied by hand. For best results, apply it to freshly washed and decontaminated surfaces using either the supplied applicator pad or a Meguiar's Soft Foam Applicator Pad (if the surfaces to be treated are faded or in otherwise poor condition you should also polish them first). You will find the product spreads more easily if you dampen the pad before use (simply wet it under a tap and wring it out fully). Try to avoid getting any product on unpainted plastics and rubber seals, but if you do be sure to buff it off immediately, otherwise staining may occur. Only a light dab of product is required per 12 x 12 area. This should be spread as thinly and evenly as possible to produce a film that should be buffed off shortly thereafter using a microfibre buffing towel (a free towel is supplied with the 250 ml tub, otherwise we recommend using a PB Deluxe Buffing Towel). Please note that there is no need to allow the film to dry fully before it is removed (if you do, you will find it harder to remove).
