Even with plenty of lubrication, a poorly designed mitt can trap contamination against the paintwork, increasing friction and the risk of introducing fine scratches during the contact wash stage. Choosing a mitt that is soft, comfortable to use and easy to rinse clean is therefore an important part of maintaining a swirl-free finish.

The Koch-Chemie Exterior Wash Mitt is designed with these fundamentals firmly in mind. Manufactured using high-quality 640 GSM microfibre, it provides a soft cleaning surface that is gentle on automotive paintwork while still being effective at lifting everyday road grime and contamination. The microfibre construction offers a substantial contact surface, helping distribute the shampoo solution across the panel during washing.

One of the more interesting details is the centrally positioned internal seam. This provides a natural separation for your fingers inside the mitt, giving you greater control over its movement and helping prevent it from twisting around your hand. Combined with the elasticated cuff, it makes the mitt particularly comfortable to use when working around curved body panels, bumpers and more intricate areas.

At 26 x 21 cm, the Exterior Wash Mitt is also a practical size. It provides sufficient coverage for larger panels without being unnecessarily bulky, making it easy to manoeuvre around mirrors, door handles and other areas where a larger wash pad might be less convenient.

Another thoughtful addition is the waterproof protective bag supplied with the mitt. This allows you to transport it after washing without getting the rest of your detailing equipment wet. It's important to remember that this is intended for transportation rather than long-term storage, and the mitt should always be thoroughly washed and dried before putting it away.

As with any microfibre wash mitt, the real key to safe washing is managing the dirt collected during the process. Koch-Chemie specifically recommends regularly rinsing the mitt in a detailing bucket to release trapped contamination rather than continuously carrying it across the paintwork. Combined with a quality shampoo and a sensible washing technique, this helps minimise unnecessary friction and the potential for wash-induced marring.

For us, the Exterior Wash Mitt is a well-considered addition to the Koch-Chemie accessories range. It doesn't rely on gimmicks or unnecessarily complicated construction, instead focusing on the details that genuinely matter: soft microfibre, a comfortable and secure fit, and good control during washing. If you're looking for a dependable wash mitt for regular maintenance, it ticks all the right boxes.

Key Features

Fabric Weight
640 GSM
(Premium microfibre)

Dimensions
26 x 21 cm
(Ergonomic size)

Construction
Microfibre
(Paint-friendly)

Description

The Koch-Chemie Exterior Wash Mitt is a premium microfibre wash mitt designed for gentle, effective vehicle washing.
