Badges, grilles, intricate wheel designs, rubber seals and the edges of exterior trim can all collect dirt that requires a little more focused attention. A good detailing brush is therefore an essential part of any comprehensive wash routine, but not every surface benefits from the same type of bristle.

The Koch-Chemie Exterior Brush Set addresses this problem with four purpose-designed brushes, each featuring a different bristle specification and a colour-coded handle to identify its intended application. Rather than expecting one brush to handle everything from dirty wheels to delicate gloss black trim, the set provides the appropriate tool for each task.

Starting with the red brush, Koch-Chemie uses acid-resistant bristles specifically intended for wheel cleaning. This is useful when working with dedicated wheel cleaners, particularly around intricate spokes, wheel bolts and other areas where a larger wheel brush struggles to reach. The orange brush has a more robust construction for tougher cleaning jobs on exterior plastics, making it particularly useful around radiator grilles, lower trim and door sills.

The yellow brush is intended for glass and rubber surfaces, including mirror housings and window seals. These areas often accumulate road film and ingrained dirt that can be difficult to remove with a microfibre cloth alone. Having a dedicated brush makes it easier to work a suitable cleaner into tight gaps without unnecessarily disturbing adjacent surfaces.

Perhaps the most interesting of the four is the green brush. This features particularly fine bristles intended for delicate exterior surfaces such as chrome and piano black trim. These finishes are notoriously easy to mark, so the softer bristle construction is a sensible addition. Even so, we'd always recommend using plenty of lubrication, applying minimal pressure and testing sensitive surfaces before cleaning.

Another clever detail is the removable angled section incorporated into the brushes. This allows you to alter the brush configuration to improve access when cleaning awkward areas, making the set more adaptable than a conventional fixed-handle detailing brush.

We also particularly like the colour coding. Keeping separate brushes for wheels, plastics and sensitive finishes is good detailing practice, as it reduces the possibility of carrying abrasive contamination from heavily soiled areas onto more delicate surfaces. Of course, the brushes still need to be cleaned thoroughly after each use, but the system makes it much easier to maintain that separation.

For us, the Exterior Brush Set is a well-thought-out collection of detailing tools that addresses a genuine problem. Different exterior surfaces require different levels of agitation, and having four purpose-specific brushes makes cleaning more controlled and efficient. It's a practical investment for anyone who takes their exterior detailing seriously.

Key Features

Brushes Included
4
(Colour coded)

Bristle Types
4
(Surface specific)

Handle Design
Adjustable
(Removable angle)

Description

The Koch-Chemie Exterior Brush Set is a professional-quality collection of four detailing brushes designed for cleaning different exterior vehicle surfaces.
