Gyeon Q² Rim is a state of the art heat-resistant quartz coating for wheels, brake calipers and exhaust systems. If, like us, you always question relative performance in the world of car care, then you're probably wondering how Gyeon Q² Rim differs to rival products, and what it offers that they don't? The answers to these questions stem back to its unique alcohol-free formula, which lays down a film of siloxane polymers and heat resistant additives that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to painted and bare metal surfaces at the molecular level. None of the other SiO2-based coatings we stock work in quite the same way; yes, they lay down glass-like coatings that form strong molecular bonds and, in some cases, fully crystallized lattices, but none are anywhere near as heat-resistant as Gyeon Q² Rim. Indeed, once it's fully cured, Gyeon Q² Rim can tolerate regular exposure to temperatures of up to 800°C with no drop-off in its protective qualities or durability.
To confirm its ability to tolerate extreme conditions better than rival products, we subjected Gyeon Q² Rim to a number of brutal tests, including: (i) running it on a set of winter wheels that were exposed to road salt on a daily basis and left unwashed for six months; (ii) running it on the stainless steel manifold and exhaust system of a high performance saloon that regularly became hot enough to glow slightly after fast road runs, and; (iii) our usual decontamination process (which was performed on the aforementioned winter wheels at the end of the test period). In all cases, once the treated surfaces were cleaned, it was clear that the coating was still intact, due to strong water beading. Furthermore, no signs of galvanic corrosion were observed on the winter rims, despite their long-term neglect. In line with the manufacturer's claims, it's fair to say that Gyeon Q² Rim offers a level of performance that well and truly raises the bar for wheels, brake calipers and exhaust systems.
As a result of being coated with a smooth, dense layer of fully crystallized SiO2, treated surfaces become naturally water-hating (hydrophobic), which causes rainfall and rinse water to bead up and roll off very quickly. This extreme beading not only looks good, but also tends to pick up and carry away fresh contaminants, which, combined with the naturally high scratch resistance of the coating, makes routine washing easier and much safer. In addition to these benefits, Gyeon Q² Rim also provides excellent protection against brake dust and road salt for upwards of twelve months at a time, even on high performance cars whose wheels and braking systems become extremely hot during use. Gyeon Q² Rim is currently supplied as a pre-packed kit containing a 30 ml bottle of Gyeon Q² Rim, a Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block, four Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes and an instruction booklet.

How To Use
You should apply Gyeon Q² Rim in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In all cases, prepare the wheels you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. Next, using the supplied dropping pipette, lightly wet one of the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes with Gyeon Q² Rim, wrap it around the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block and begin wiping it evenly on to the first rim, using light pressure and overlapping strokes. You should aim to treat no more than one wheel at a time, because after an initial volatilization period of 3-5 minutes you must then buff off the (still wet) residue as quickly as possible, i.e. before it dries out and begins to harden. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Utility Towel using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove the residue and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Using a bright light, check the rim carefully for any smears and remove them before moving on; failure to remove smears fully can result in them hardening to the point of being impossible to remove without machine polishing, so make sure you are thorough!
After all of the rims are treated, wait for a minimum of an hour and then apply a second coat. The wheels must then be left somewhere warm and dry for a minimum of 24 hours to allow the SiO2 coating to harden (if you wish, you can accelerate this process by heating the treated rims to 60°C for 10 minutes using an infra-red heat lamp). Finally, to reduce the risk of water spots forming while it continues to cure (full curing takes around 14 days to achieve), you should apply a protective topcoat of Gyeon Q²M Cure (you should also avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 7 days). Please note that you must discard all used applicators and towels after you've applied each coat, because Gyeon Q² Rim hardens massively as it cures, forming a residue that has the potential to inflict severe marring or worse if applicators and towels are re-used. Furthermore, after each use you must also replace the dropping pipette with the air-tight cap, and then wash out the pipette with hot water. Failure to follow these steps will result in any leftover product setting solid in the bottle and the pipette, rendering them unusable in the future.
