Gyeon Q² Pure is an easy to use quartz coating aimed at experienced enthusiasts and professional detailers with access to a dry indoor workspace. Developed in South Korea, Gyeon Q² Pure lays down a film of siloxane polymers that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to painted surfaces at the molecular level. Thanks to its pure formulation, full curing successfully occurs at low temperatures, which makes it well suited to use in unheated workspaces. Like the other SiO2-based coatings in the Gyeon range, it delivers superb looks characterised by strong colour jetting and excellent levels of gloss. In fact, its colour enhancing effect is easily on par with many high quality carnauba waxes, making it the perfect coating for warmer coloured paint finishes (e.g. solid reds). In addition to fantastic looks, Gyeon Q² Pure offers a number of other benefits...
Firstly, because it contains no alcohol, it doesn't flash off rapidly upon contact, which makes it very easy to apply. Moreover, because it is a very thick coating, only a single layer needs to be applied. Secondly, because it fully crystallizes as it cures, Gyeon Q² Pure produces a substantially harder and more durable coating than many rival products. We've tested this by subjecting it to a brutal decontamination test, in which selected panels were: (i) treated with a spirit-based tar remover; (ii) treated with a strong acid-based fallout remover, and; (iii) clayed with a mild clay bar. The net effect of this treatment was only a slight reduction in beading strength compared to the day it was first applied. Given that it is essentially an improved version of the now retired Gyeon Q² Prime formula, we fully expect its durability to extend to around the eighteen month mark.

You should apply Gyeon Q² Pure in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In all cases, prepare the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate > polish), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. Next, wrap one of the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes around the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block and lightly wet one end of it with Gyeon Q² Pure using the supplied dropping pipette. Then spread the coating quickly over the first panel, using light pressure and overlapping strokes. After 20-30 seconds, and without adding any more product, rub the Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suede over the panel in tight circles, using moderate speed and pressure. This step is critical, as it levels the coating and makes it easy to remove. You must then buff off the remaining residue as quickly as possible, i.e. before it begins to harden. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Super Buffing Towel using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove the residue and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Using a bright light, check the panel carefully for smears and remove them before moving on; failure to remove smears fully can result in them hardening to the point of being impossible to remove without machine polishing, so make sure you are thorough!
After all panels are treated you must then leave the car in a dry place out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 24 hours to allow the SiO2 coating to harden (if you wish, you can accelerate this process by heating the treated panels to 60°C for 10 minutes using an infra-red heat lamp). Finally, to reduce the risk of water spots forming while it continues to cure (full curing takes around 14 days to achieve), you should apply a protective topcoat of Gyeon Q²M Cure (you should also avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 7 days). Please note that you must discard all used applicators and towels after you've applied Gyeon Q² Pure, because it hardens massively as it cures, forming a residue that has the potential to inflict severe marring or worse if applicators and towels are re-used. Furthermore, after each use you must also replace the dropping pipette with the air-tight cap, and then wash out the pipette with hot water. Failure to follow these steps will result in any leftover product setting solid in the bottle and the pipette, rendering them unusable in the future.
