A few things to look forward to...

Where to begin? We had hoped to launch our new showcase detailing video in this blog post, but unfortunately we’re running behind with the editing and grading (when you finally get to see it you’ll understand why). Furthermore, we had hoped that the final features of our new real-time stock control system would be going live this month as well, but we’re also running behind schedule with that… and what feels like a million other projects too! This is due, in part, to the fantastic spell of trading we’re currently enjoying, which is leaving precious little time for anything other than our day to day order fulfilment and customer service duties. However, it’s also partly due to a number of other things that have been going on behind the scenes…

Unfortunately, after more than six years of loyal service, our current stockroom assistant, Marsha, is leaving us in early August to pursue a new venture (which we admire her greatly for – too many people in life are risk-averse!). As a result, we’ve had to conduct a recruitment exercise for the first time in many years, and this has eaten up a lot of our time over the last six weeks. However, every cloud has a silver lining as they say, and we’ve since appointed an enthusiastic young chap called Adam to pick up the baton and run with it. He’s got pretty big boots to fill, but comes to us with a wealth of relevant experience and a very positive attitude, so hopefully he’ll settle in to the role in no time at all and make it his own.

In addition to dealing with staffing changes, we’ve also been spending a lot of time so far this year working on our back end systems, in order to improve our internal efficiency and external quality of service. A lot of this work is fairly technical and rather dull to be honest, so is not worth going into detail about, but suffice to say that sometimes we have to focus inwardly for a while in order to lay the foundation stones for further growth. This is the key reason why we’ve been quieter than usual this year on many of the social platforms and forums we participate on. Based on current progress, things should be getting back to normal by the start of the autumn, but in the meantime keep your eyes peeled for the new video – it’s a bar raiser!
