“Hello, this is Rich at Polished Bliss, and in this video I’m going to tell you a little bit about Auto Finesse Iron Out, and in particular how it fits in to the decontamination process.

Iron Out is an intensive cleaning gel that dissolves brake dust and other iron-rich contaminants upon contact. Although best suited to the cleaning of neglected wheels, it’s also ideal for use on other exterior surfaces in situations where iron-based contaminants are proving difficult to remove. Examples of such contaminants include railway dust, which can be highly resistant to all but the most aggressive clay bars, and industrial fallout, which is easy to feel with your fingertips but hard to see without the aid of a microscope.

The main ingredient in Iron Out is a powerful neutralised acid salt. This reduces iron particles into a soluble form, making them easy to rinse away with water. As a result, Iron Out is less aggressive than traditional acid-based wheel cleaners and fallout removers, and safer than clay bars, which often struggle to fully remove such contaminants and tend to inflict surface marring in the process. Furthermore, Iron Out clings to vertical surfaces with ease, which extends its working time and minimises the need for agitation in all but the most extreme cases.

So, how exactly do you use Iron Out? Firstly, wash and rinse your car normally and remove any organic contaminants using a tar and glue remover. Then, spray it on liberally and allow 5-10 minutes for it to work. As any iron contaminants dissolve into solution the initially colourless liquid will gradually turn purple. This effect is often quite pronounced but don’t panic because it’s quite normal. Although Iron Out is essentially a touchless cleaner, you can agitate it with either a microfibre towel or a soft brush if needs be. After 10 minutes or so rinse the residue away with a strong stream of water.

In summary, Iron Out is an invaluable decontamination product that removes brake dust and other iron-rich contaminants with ease. It’s safe for use on all exterior surfaces and greatly reduces the need for claying, which in turn reduces the risk of marring being inflicted during the decontamination process. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the details provided on the contact us page of our website.”

This is a wonderfully shot and highly informative video. I especially like the time lapse sequences.

I am a huge fan of Iron Out for the time it saves in the decontamination process. The first time I clayed a car I didn’t know about embedded iron particles and the role of iron dissolvers in the decontamination process. It took hours!

Having decontaminated many car exteriors since, the time iron dissolvers save more than make up to the added cost to the decontamination process. My favoured application method is via a Mesto Pressure Sprayer. The foam created clings even to vertical surfaces allowing the reaction to take place before the product runs off. I am always amazed on how many embedded fillings cover each and every panel. It is an invaluable step in the decontamination process and the rapid acting nature of Iron Out makes it my preferred iron dissolver.
