Polished Bliss Show & Shine Winner July 2012

It’s fair to say that the recent standard of entries to our monthly show and shine competition has never been higher, and that picking each month’s winner is becoming an increasingly difficult task. This is undoubtedly a very good problem for us to have, but it hasn’t escaped our attention that we are continuing to receive a large number of entries that don’t quite meet the requirements of the competition. And this is a real shame, because with one or two minor tweaks these entries would otherwise be strong contenders. As a result, it’s probably a good time to draw attention to the article we posted last year entitled “How to win our show and shine…”. The tips and tricks laid out in this article remain as relevant as ever, so if you plan on submitting an entry in the not too distant future please take a few minutes to look through it before entering…

How to win our show and shine…

There are several key points that crop up time and time again: (i) we don’t require any before or during shots – if you send any in, they will be discarded from the judging process; (ii) we want to see a variety of pictures from different distances and positions, including some close ups and some whole car shots from various angles – if all of your shots are taken from the same position you aren’t giving us enough to work with; and (iii) we want to see pictures that look nice, so try to think carefully about the back drop and take the car to a different location if needs be – domestic garages and driveways are rarely big enough, tidy enough or lit well enough to make good back drops. Finally, review the previous winning entries on our website before submitting your own, as they will give you a good idea of the required standard. We hope this helps!
