Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound (WP-5N)
One of the biggest problems that can trip you up when correcting heavy defects in soft to intermediate paint finishes is micromarring. This refers to a faint pattern of tightly defined swirl marks caused by unbroken down abrasives scouring the surface of the paint. It typically appears if you use a compound that is too robust for the hardness of the paint you are working on. Alternatively, it can arise if you fail to work the compound you are using for long enough. The trick to avoiding it when working on soft to intermediate paint finishes is to use a well-lubricated compound containing relatively fragile abrasives. Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound fits this bill perfectly.
Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound is a coarse cutting compound designed to remove moderate to severe paint defects. It works by using precision-milled aluminium oxide particles to cut away a thin layer of paint. These particles are relatively fragile, and break down relatively quickly and easily during use. This makes Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound ideal for intensive correction work on soft and intermediate paint finishes, where severe micromarring can otherwise be a problem if more robust abrasives are used. Long lasting lubricants maximise its working time, while its filler-free formula ensures that defect removal is permanent rather than temporary.
You should only use Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound by machine. For best results using a dual action polisher, work it with either a Lake Country 140 mm Hydro-Tech Polishing Pad or a Lake Country 140 mm Hydro-Tech Cutting Pad. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area. After spreading, work it thoroughly at 4000-5000 orbits per minute (speed 4-5 on most dual action machine polishers) until only an oily film remains. Buff off the film carefully using a PB Super Buffing Towel.
For best results using a rotary polisher, you should work Wolf's Chemicals Correcting Compound using either a Lake Country 140 mm Rotary H-T Polishing Pad or a Lake Country 140 mm Rotary H-T Cutting Pad. Only 1-2 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area. You should work it thoroughly at 1500-2000 revolutions per minute (speed 3-4 on most rotary polishers) using the zenith method until only an oily film remains. Buff off the film carefully using a PB Super Buffing Towel.
