Judging from the vast amount of e-mail we receive, a common problem for many car care enthusiasts concerns exterior trim dressings and their apparent lack of durability under typical UK driving conditions. Whilst it is fair to say that many modern water-based dressings struggle to adhere for any longer than four to six weeks at a time, it is also fair to say that in many cases their durability is compromised by the fact that treated surfaces are not cleaned properly first. Is it really fair to expect a water-based dressing to adhere properly to anything less than a spotlessly clean, oil-free surface? We think not, and suggest that Swissvax Plastic Wash offers the perfect solution for deep cleaning trims prior to the application of Swissvax Protecton or Swissvax Protecton Matt.
Swissvax Plastic Wash is an intensive detergent-based cleaner designed for interior, exterior and engine bay plastics and vinyls. Such components are often dressed without being properly cleaned first, which is counter-productive because contaminants are then distributed over the treated surface and carried into its pores. This may seem to be a relatively minor problem, but in reality it is more serious, as the durability of the dressing will be reduced and the treated surface may begin to take on a dull, weathered appearance. This problem can be avoided if plastic and vinyl components are periodically cleaned properly with Swissvax Plastic Wash prior to the application of either Swissvax Protecton or Swissvax Protecton Matt.
Swissvax Plastic Wash comes pre-diluted to the correct strength for safe use on all automotive plastics and vinyls, and should thus be used neat. For best results, dampen all surfaces to be treated with a wet Swissvax Micro Wash Towel, then spray on Swissvax Plastic Wash liberally and agitate thoroughly using a Swissvax Cleaning Brush. This will produce a slightly foamy lather, which will discolour as dirt and grease is progressively released. The lather should then be soaked up using a fresh Swissvax Micro Wash Towel and all surfaces should then be left to dry naturally before any protective products are applied.
