"This is an 8 year old Audi S3 and the owner approached me as he was looking to have the car detailed in order to sell it. I soon realised I was going to have my work cut out, as it was not the cleanest to say the least! The worst points were widespread tar spots, a few nasty scuffs and scratches, and a really grubby interior. On arrival I got stuck into the interior first for a change and spent a good couple of hours removing many months worth of grime and debris. The leather was actually is in surprisingly good condition, so a simple coat of protection was all that was required. After completing the interior, I then cleaned all of the door shuts and the engine by hand, using Meguiar's Super Degreaser, brushes and towels.

The next day, I returned early and started the exterior aspect of the detail. The wheels were cleaned right through to the backs using Meguiar's Wheel Brightener and a Melody Wheel Back Brush. The car was then blanketed with a foamy layer of Meguiar's Hyper Wash, which was left to dwell for five minutes before being rinsed off. I then washed the car using the two bucket wash method, a pair of Easirider Lambswool Wash Mitts and a good quality shampoo. After a further rinse I then clayed the bodywork thoroughly using Meguiar's Mild Detailing Clay and Meguiar's Quik Detailer. This process removed a lot of contamination and really brightened up the paint. I then dried the car off and moved it inside ready to start the polishing process.

I was made aware by the owner than the car had been machine polished in the past, so I took a lot of paint thickness readings using a Paint Detective PD8 gauge; this showed that some areas on the car were getting a bit thin, so I worked gently on these areas and harder elsewhere. For much of the car I had to conduct a two stage process, starting with Menzerna RD3.02 on Lake Country 140 mm Light Cut Pads to correct the defects and then switching to Menzerna 85RE on Lake Country 140 mm Polishing Pads to refine the finish. I was really happy with the results as this method corrected the defects and left the paint looking deep and glossy.

For the last step I used the Werkstat Acrylic Kit. First up was the Prime Acrylic, which was followed by a coat of Acrylic Jett Trigger. The windows were then cleaned and the exterior trims all dressed with Meguiar's All Season Dressing. Finally, the tyres were dressed and the soot-covered exhaust tips were brought back to life using Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh and very fine steel wool. The car looked fantastic at this point and I was delighted with the results.
