One of the main reasons why the SCHOLL Concepts brand stands out in the world of automotive polishing is because their people think differently. Good looks and novelty marketing features are not sought out when their products are designed. Rather, optimum functionality and intelligent details that add value to the end-user are the primary objectives. And this extends from their polishes, which are noticeably different to most others on the market, right through to their pads and accessories. This is not surprising, because the core SCHOLL Concepts belief is that the best results are only obtained when polishes and pads, like the components in a precision watch, are meticulously designed to work together to enhance each other's performance. Only then do you get the best finish in the shortest possible time. Consequently, SCHOLL Concepts 160 mm Premium Pads are made from engineered foams that are optimised for use with Scholl Concepts polishes, and feature a strongly curved profile and a highly durable recessed hook and loop backing disc that maximises safety when working in hard to reach spots. It is a minimalist design that works extremely well.
All SCHOLL Concepts automotive polishing pads are manufactured in a state of the art production facility in Remseck, Germany. SCHOLL Concepts 160 mm Premium Pads are made from ultra high quality European foams, and are specifically designed for compounding and finishing all forms of modern paint systems. All SCHOLL Concepts automotive polishing pads feature a high quality hook and loop backing, which ensures full compatibility with most brands of backing plates. The hook and loop backing disc is also set back a few millimetres from the edge of the pad for safety and complete peace of mind. Two different grades of SCHOLL Concepts 160 mm Premium Pads are currently available; cutting and finishing. The relatively pliant foam used for the cutting pad has a reticulated open cell structure, which allows air to circulate through the pad and thus carry away heat generated by friction. It is also tear-resistant, which maximises its durability. In contrast, the finishing pad is made of a softer closed cell foam with a fine pore structure, which is beneficial for less intensive polishing tasks where complete polish break-down is required in order to achieve maximum finish quality.
General usage notes: (i) always select the least aggressive pad you think you will need to achieve the desired result, and step up one grade at a time if more cut is required (ii) always ensure that you centre each pad properly on the backing plate (this can take several attempts to get right, but is vital if the machine is to remain perfectly balanced during use); (iii) always use an appropriate sized pad for the backing plate you are using (the pad should always protrude past the edge of the backing plate, never the other way around); (iv) always ensure that excess polish residue on the face of the pad is brushed off regularly during use using a PB Utility Brush (failure to follow this advice can lead to micromarring of the finish, so don't be lazy!); (v) after use, soak each pad in a bucket of Lake Country Snappy Pad Cleaner solution for 15 minutes and then rinse under fresh running water (using your fingertips to massage out any remaining polish residue) and allow to dry naturally, and; (vi) while not in use, store in a dry, dust-free environment (lidded plastic storage boxes are ideal in this respect).
