ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)

When correcting fine swirl marks and polishing holograms, it is common for polish residues and oils to partially fill such defects, giving the illusion of full correction. Such defects may then reappear when applying the final coat of sealant or wax protection, as the carrier solvents in such products typically clean the paint surface as the protection is laid down. The best way to prevent this problem from arising is to properly clean the paint surface after machine polishing, using a chemical cleaning agent. In our opinion, the best product for this task is ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), as it ruthlessly removes all traces of polishing residues and oils and leaves paint perfectly bare in readiness for inspection with high intensity lighting.

ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is an alcohol-based chemical cleaning agent designed to facilitate the objective assessment of surface quality after machine polishing. It ruthlessly removes all traces of polishing residues and oils without adding any gloss (it does not contain any silicones or gloss enhancing polymers, and is thus not a quick detailer). This allows you to inspect the surface properly to determine if the desired level of correction has been achieved or whether further work will be required prior to the addition of sealant or wax protection.

ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is a highly concentrated chemical cleaning agent, and in almost all cases should be diluted to an appropriate strength before use. For use on soft paint finishes and other potentially sensitive surfaces it should be diluted 4:1 (water:product), while for use on intermediate to hard paint finishes this can be decreased to 1:1 (water:product). For use on glass, ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) can safely be used neat.

For best results, lightly mist a suitably diluted solution of ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) over the work area and immediately wipe the area down using a PB Super Buffing Towel. Then refold your towel and buff the panel down very carefully to leave a perfect smear-free finish, which can then be properly assessed with high intensity lighting to determine if the desired level of correction has been achieved.

Please note that because ReAgent Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) is a chemical cleaning agent it should not be used after applying glazes, as it will strip away freshly deposited fillers and gloss enhancing oils, thus negating the glazing effect.
