Sadly it is becoming increasingly common for brand new cars to be spoilt by poor preparation at dealerships prior to handover. This is unacceptable in all cases, but quite frankly unbelievable in the case of prestige and performance cars. In this case the RS4 shown below had less than a hundred miles on the clock when it was dropped off with us, but the bodywork was already in a terrible state, with plenty of bonded transport contaminants on the roof and bonnet, and heavy swirl marks and deeper random scratches afflicting all of the major panels. After carefully washing and claying the car, we moved it inside for what ended up being over 12 hours of paint correction work. Most of the defects responded well to simple machine polishing, but those on the near side wing required more intensive wetsanding in order to be fully corrected. With the bodywork restored to perfection, we protected the freshly polished surfaces with a bespoke premium carnauba wax. The engine and interior were then fully cleansed and dressed, and the remaining exterior details attended to. This work was undertaken as the initial Minor Paint Correction Detail under a Bi-Monthly Maintenance Plan, which will ensure that the car remains in perfect condition over the coming twelve months.
