Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant

Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant is an advanced solvent-based composite coating for automotive glass surfaces that lays down a fully transparent, ultra slick barrier that repels rain, sleet and snow on contact. The super hydrophobic formula works in conjunction with natural airflow over the car to rapidly disperse water droplets at speeds in excess of 20 mph, resulting in greatly improved visibility and driving comfort in urban settings, even under extreme weather conditions.

Indeed, independent academic studies have shown that similar treatments allow drivers to recognise objects up to one second earlier in wet-weather conditions. At 60 mph, this one second advantage can reduce stopping distances by up to 30 m, making driving safer for everyone on the road. Each application of Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant will last for between two to four months before needing reapplication.

Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant is an advanced solvent-based composite coating that forms a temporary barrier against water, oil and grime on automotive glass surfaces. Developed in Germany, Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant combines a composite material with activated acidic compounds to form a fully transparent anti-stick coating that offers optimal protection to exterior glass surfaces in urban environments.

Following application, road spray and rain drops simply bead up and roll off of treated surfaces, or are blown off by airflow over the car when driving speeds rise above 20 mph. The coating therefore significantly improves visibility and driving comfort in poor weather conditions, and greatly reduces the need to use windscreen wipers and screen wash. Furthermore, road grime and bug splatter wash off with ease, and deicing is made easier too.

Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant should be applied in a warm (15°C – 30°C), dry, well ventilated environment out of direct sunlight. Users should wear PB Nitrile Gloves throughout the application procedure, and should consider using a 3M Respirator too. In order to achieve the quoted durability and associated performance benefits, it is absolutely essential that surfaces to be treated are cleaned properly in advance with Nanolex Premium Glass Cleaner, as this will ensure that all residual oils and contaminants are fully removed.

Before applying the sealant, shake the bottle vigorously to ensure that the contents are fully mixed. Next, lightly wet either a cotton make up pad or a Meguiar’s Microfibre Applicator Pad with product and begin wiping evenly over the surfaces to be treated. Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant is designed to cure in situ for up to 5 minutes before being buffed off, so we recommend treating 1-2 windows at a time. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Super Buffing Towel using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove all traces of the product and reveal an intense streak-free shine.

After all surfaces are treated, the car must then be left in a warm (15°C – 30°C), dry, well ventilated environment out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 30 minutes in order to allow the microfilm to fully cure (note that you should avoid washing the car for a minimum of 24 hours following treatment, just to be on the safe side). Although Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant is fairly durable, it should still be maintained carefully. For example, intensive shampoos should be avoided in favour of milder pH neutral products (Nanolex Reactivating Shampoo is excellent in this respect).
