This cutting edge paint protection kit from Nanolex contains everything you need to prepare, protect and maintain your bodywork for upwards of twelve months at a time. Preparation is tackled with Nanolex EX. This is an alcohol-based chemical cleaning agent that strips unwanted oils and residual grime. Protection is then added with Nanolex Si3D. This is an advanced silica-based coating that simultaneously protects and enhances the appearance of automotive paint. Developed in Germany, it forms a tough glossy looking coating that not only protects against bird droppings, bug splatter, brake dust and harmful UV radiation for upwards of twelve months at a time, but which also beads very strongly and thus partially mimics the self-cleaning properties of Lotus leaves in nature (the Lotus Effect). Maintenance should be performed thereafter on a regular basis with Nanolex Final Finish (after routine washing and drying first). This is a high performance quick detailing spray that restores surface gloss and repairs silica-based coatings by laying down fresh nano-scale protection that has a life expectancy of around six weeks per application.
Step 1 - Nanolex EX
Nanolex EX should be applied in a well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight. To protect your skin, we recommend wearing PB Nitrile Gloves during the application process. For best results, lightly mist Nanolex EX over small sections at a time (up to 18" x 18" square) and then immediately buff it off using one of the supplied Nanolex Microfibre Buffing Towels.
Step 2 - Nanolex Si3D
Nanolex Si3D should be applied in a warm, dry, well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight. To protect your skin we recommend wearing PB Nitrile Gloves during the application process, and you should also wear a 3M Respirator, as the fumes that Nanolex Si3D gives off are very strong (they are not harmful per se, but can still cause dizziness and irritation). Before applying the coating, shake the bottle vigorously to ensure that the contents are fully mixed. Next, lightly wet one of the supplied suede applicator towels with product and begin applying it to the first panel, using light pressure and evenly spaced overlapping strokes (make sure you wrap the towel around the supplied applicator block first). You should aim to treat no more than a single panel at a time, because after an initial volatilization period of 1-2 minutes you must then buff off the (still slightly wet) residue as quickly as possible, i.e. before it fully dries out and begins to harden. Buffing off should be done using one of the supplied Nanolex Microfibre Buffing Towels using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove the residue and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Using a bright light, check the panel carefully for smears and remove them before moving on. After all panels are treated the car must then be left in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 12 hours to allow the SiO2 coating to harden (full curing takes around 7 days to achieve and you should avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 3 days). Note that the shelf life of Si3D is between 3-6 weeks once the bottle is opened; the less product there is left in the bottle the less time you have to use it.
Step 3 - Nanolex Final Finish
For best results, lightly mist Nanolex Final Finish over small sections at a time (it is safe for use on bodywork, windows and trims) and immediately wipe it down to spread a thin, even film of product using one of the supplied Nanolex Microfibre Buffing Towels. Then, refold the towel and gently buff the area down to remove the film and reveal a perfect streak-free finish.
Care instructions for applicators and towels
(i) discard suede applicator towels after use; (ii) with the exception of those used with Si3D (which must be discarded after use), wash microfibre towels in a washing machine at a low temperature (40 °C) using a non-biological liquid detergent (avoid soap powders and detergents containing bleach or fabric softeners); (iii) allow microfibre towels to dry naturally on a line or tumble dry on a cool heat setting (avoid radiators and other sources of high heat), and; (iv) store unused suede applicator towels and clean microfibre towels in a dry, dust-free environment whilst not in use (lidded plastic storage boxes are ideal in this respect).
