Menzerna has been making abrasives and polishing compounds since 1888, and stands today as Germany's largest and most respected manufacturer of automotive polishing products. If you ever take a look at their website, you will be amazed at the sheer range of specialist polishing products they have available, most of which are patent protected and thus reflective of the high degree of innovation that Menzerna brings to the marketplace. We have directly used and tested all of the automotive polishes that are currently available for aftermarket use, and trying to settle on specific products to carry in our store has not been easy. Menzerna S100 makes the cut because it is by far the best super aggressive cutting compound currently on the market, and enables excellent levels of correction to be achieved in ultra hard paint situations where other cutting compounds fail to offer sufficient cut. Our only caveat is that it must be used with extreme care, as it is capable of removing a substantial amount of paint in a very short space of time. As a result, we recommend that it is only used by professional detailers and always in conjunction with a paint thickness gauge.
Menzerna S100 is designed to permanently remove major paint defects such as severe swirl marks, deep scratches and acid etching from original and refinished paintwork and leave a superior high gloss finish ready for final polishing. Unlike many other aggressive cutting compounds, Menzerna S100 breaks down well during use to leave a sharp high gloss finish that subsequently requires only relatively minor refinement. The high level of cut on offer is achieved using ultra-fine, precision-milled aluminium oxide particles suspended in a base of lubricating oils. Like its milder companion products, Menzerna S100 contains no fillers of any kind, meaning that defect removal is permanent rather than temporary. Although Menzerna S100 was originally designed specifically for use on modern ceramic nano-particle and scratch-resistant clearcoats, it has also proven itself to be ideal for use on harder conventional clearcoats in situations where maximum levels of cut are required.
Menzerna S100 should only be applied by machine. For best results using a dual action polisher, it should be applied to freshly clayed paint using a Menzerna 135 mm Compounding Pad. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area, and these should be worked in thoroughly at around 4000-5000 orbits per minute (speed 4-5 on most dual action machine polishers) until only a thin film remains. This film should then be buffed off carefully using a Poorboy’s Super Thick & Plush Towel. For best results using a rotary polisher, Menzerna S100 should be applied to freshly clayed paint using either a Gloss It 145 mm Knitted Wool Pad or a Gloss It 145 mm Fast Cut Pad. Only 1-2 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area, and these should be worked in thoroughly at around 1500-2000 revolutions per minute (speed 3-4 on most rotary polishers) using the zenith method until only a thin film remains. This film should then be buffed off carefully using a Poorboy’s Super Thick & Plush Towel. In all cases, the compounding process should be completed and the finish then further refined using either Menzerna 203S or Menzerna 85RE.
