If you asked most detailers to write down a features wish list for an aggressive cutting compound, they'd likely list the following points. Good level of cut. Well lubricated. Long work time. No dust. No fillers. Impossible, right? Not any more. Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) is a revelation. It cuts paint back quickly and easily, produces very little dust and does not hide remaining defects.
The above performance characteristics are a welcome break from the norm, and make Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) one of the best aggressive cutting compounds currently on the market. Our only caveat is that it is capable of removing a lot of paint in a very short space of time. You must therefore use it with extreme care, and ideally in conjunction with a paint thickness gauge.
Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) is an aggressive professional cutting compound. It cuts paint back quickly and easily, and is thus ideal for tackling deep scratches and severe etching. Unlike many cutting compounds, it also finishes down well to give a sharp, high gloss finish that, in most cases, needs only minor refining with a finishing polish afterwards.
Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) uses ultra-fine, precision-milled aluminium oxide particles suspended in a base of lubricating oils. Like its siblings, it contains no fillers of any kind. Although designed with scratch-resistant clearcoats in mind, it's also suitable for use on conventional hard paint finishes in situations where maximum cut is required.
You should only use Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) by machine. For best results using a dual action polisher, work it with a Lake Country 140 mm Hydro-Tech Cutting Pad. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area. After spreading, work it thoroughly at 4000-5000 orbits per minute (speed 4-5 on most dual action machine polishers) until only an oily film remains. Buff off the film carefully using a PB Super Buffing Towel.
For best results using a rotary polisher, you should work Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 (FG400) using a Lake Country 140 mm Rotary H-T Cutting Pad. Only 1-2 pea-sized drops of product are required per 18” x 18” area. You should work it thoroughly at 1500-2000 revolutions per minute (speed 3-4 on most rotary polishers) using the zenith method until only an oily film remains. Buff off the film carefully using a PB Super Buffing Towel.
