Meguiar's Sanding Backing Pad
The Meguiar's Sanding Backing Pad is made from a relatively dense, semi-rigid foam that enables downward pressure to be distributed very consistently during the wetsanding process. This makes it a perfect partner for use in conjunction with Meguiar's Unigrit Sanding Papers in situations where highly localised consistent downward pressure is required, such as when flatting back freshly cured paint domes when making stone chip repairs.
The Meguiar's Sanding Backing Pad is made from a relatively dense, semi-rigid foam that enables downward pressure to be distributed very consistently during the wetsanding process, thus helping to ensure an even rate of paint removal. It is flexible enough for comfortable use on curved surfaces, and can easily be cut into smaller bits for more intricate work, such as flatting back freshly cured paint domes when making stone chip repairs.
Wetsanding is a specialist paint rectification process that requires a significant amount of hands on training to properly master, and should not be attempted until sufficient experience has been gained through practice on scrap panels. Furthermore, because it usually involves a relatively high degree of paint removal, it should only ever be undertaken in conjunction with a properly calibrated paint thickness gauge. For these reasons, we suggest that anyone wishing to learn how to wetsand seeks professional training in the first instance, as there is a limit to what can be learnt by reading online and, in our opinion, wetsanding falls well beyond it.
