Meguiar's have done it again. They've thought long and hard about a challenging issue facing the detailing community, and then broken the mould with a cutting edge solution. In this case, they've developed a brand new dual action polishing system that addresses the issue of serious machine polishing enthusiast desiring the performance benefits afforded by rotary polishers (greater cutting power, sharper finishing, etc) but without the inherent risks (excessive paint removal, burning through, etc).
One component of this new system of liquid abrasives and microfibre discs is Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax. This combined finishing polish and protectant uses mild cleaners, synthetic polymers and natural carnauba to refine the finish produced by Meguiar's DA Microfibre Correction Compound and add a basecoat of protection. In addition to being incredibly quick and easy to use, Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax produces negligible dust, finishes down well and remains easy to buff off, even if left to dry out.
Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax is part of a brand new polishing system designed to bridge the gap between dual action polishing and rotary polishing in terms of performance and safety. Like the other recent additions to the Meguiar's line up of finishing polishes and paint protectants, uses mild cleaners, synthetic polymers and natural carnauba to refine the finish produced by Meguiar's DA Microfibre Correction Compound and add durable high gloss protection.
However, unlike its siblings, Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax must only be used with dual action machine polishers, and in conjunction with a Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Disc rather than a traditional foam pad. When used in this way, Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax delivers the quality of finish usually associated with rotary polishing, but in significantly less time and without any of the inherent risks.
Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Wax must only be applied by dual action machine using a Meguiar's DA Microfibre Finishing Disc. For best results, remove any paint defects first using Meguiar's DA Microfibre Correction Compound and a Meguiar's DA Microfibre Cutting Disc. When starting work with a fresh pad, prime it first with up to a dozen pea-sized drops of product and work these into your first 18" x 18" work area at around 3000-4000 orbits per minute (speed 3-4 on most dual action machine polishers).
In terms of technique, which is critical to the refining process, make up to half a dozen fast overlapping passes using light pressure until only a thin film of residue remains. Carefully buff this residue off using a PB Super Buffing Towel. Subsequent 18" x 18" areas will only require the addition 3-4 pea-sized drops of product to the pad, which should be spurred regularly to remove spent product residue. In all cases, the refining process should be completed and the finish then further protected with your preferred choice of wax.
