To achieve the best possible finish, we have always recommended that last step products should be applied by hand using a good quality foam applicator pad. Whilst this remains the case for paste waxes, our opinion has changed with respect to liquid sealants and waxes, as a direct result of Lake Country releasing a pair of new finishing pads made out of the softest foam ever produced for use on automotive paint. This new foam features a cell count of 100 pores per inch, which is 40% greater than the industry standard for finishing foams. This extra cell count translates into incredible softness and facilitates thinner and more even product dispersal during application, which not only makes buffing off easier, but also intensifies the resulting shine.

Lake Country Ultimate Last Step Pads are manufactured using an ultra soft European foam, and have been specifically designed for applying all liquid-based last step products. The foam used is thermally reticulated during the production process, giving a final cell count of 100 pores per inch, which is 40% greater than the industry standard for finishing foams. Whether you are a novice or an expert detailer, these pads will yield consistently excellent results and will transform the way you work with liquid sealants and waxes. Both sizes of pad feature a durable hook and loop fastening material that enables quick and easy pad changes.

General usage notes: (i) always ensure that you centre each pad properly on the backing plate (this can take several attempts to get right, but is vital if the machine is to remain perfectly balanced during use); (ii) always use an appropriate sized pad for the backing plate you are using (the pad should always protrude past the edge of the backing plate, never the other way around); (iii) always ensure that spent polish residue on the face of the pad is brushed off regularly during use using a PB Utility Brush (failure to follow this advice can lead to micromarring of the finish, so don’t be lazy!); (iv) after use, soak each pad in a bucket of Lake Country Snappy Pad Cleaner solution for 15 minutes and then rinse under fresh running water (using your fingertips to massage out any remaining polish residue) and allow to dry naturally, and; (v) whilst not in use, store in a dry, dust-free environment (lidded plastic storage boxes are ideal in this respect).
