Lake Country 165 mm CCS Technology Pads
Lake Country, the world's largest manufacturer of foam polishing pads, has spent the last two years working with various car manufacturers and Menzerna to develop a new range of foam polishing pads for use on ceramic nano-particle and scratch-resistant clearcoats. The result is a patented technology they call CCS, which stands for Collapsed Cell Structures. This technology, which sees a pattern of collapsed dimples stamped onto the surface of each pad, has been applied to all of the engineered foams that Lake Country supply. While specifically developed for the new super-hard scratch-resistant clearcoats, Lake Country CCS Technology Pads can also be safely used on all conventional paints and clearcoats. These new pads have been tested and approved at the OEM level by several European car manufacturers including Mercedes Benz, and have been proven to vastly outperform conventional foam polishing pad designs.
What is CCS Technology? The newer, harder, scratch-resistant clearcoats require longer polishing times in order to remove swirl marks, water spots and scratches. The longer you polish with conventional foam polishing pads, the less effective they become, because the polish migrates below the working surface of the pad causing the pad to dry out. CCS Technology solves this problem by stamping a uniform pattern of partially closed foam cells across the surface of each pad. These collapsed cells slow the rate of polish absorption and allow the machine operator to gradually release polish as and when it is required. The collapsed dimples also help to reduce buffer hop and skipping as the reduced size of the contact area reduces surface tension and friction.
Lake Country 165 mm CCS Technology Pads also feature two additional design innovations. Firstly, they incorporate Constant Pressure technology, which uses a layer of engineered, instant rebound foam between the pad and the backing plate to absorb off-axis movements while keeping the pressure of the pad on the surface constant - the best polishing results are always obtained when a uniform and constant pressure is applied to the surface being polished. The second additional design innovation incorporated into these pads is a curved outer edge, which allows easy transitions over seams and swage lines. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned detailer, these pads will yield consistently excellent results. All of these pads have a velcro loop backing that requires your dual action machine polisher to be fitted with a 125 mm Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate. We offer three different grades of pad...
