We've never sat down and drawn up a definitive list of our all-time favourite detailing products, but if we did there's no doubt that Gyeon Q²M WetCoat would rank very highly. Despite a rocky start (we didn't get along with it very well until we started applying it with a mitt), it has since become one of those products we could not be without, and judging by the huge amount of it we sell, there's an army of you out there who feel similarly! The level of performance it offers is incredible, the amount of time it saves is most welcome and the value for money it offers is unquestionable. Could it honestly be any better? Gyeon recently asked themselves this and realised that it could be
by reformulating it as a concentrate. This, they argue, enables the user to decide whether to prioritise performance over value for money, or vice versa, simply by varying the dilution rate and thus the effective strength of the product. Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence is the result of this thinking. Love Q²M WetCoat but wish the protection it lays down worked even better, and don't mind paying a little more for it? No problem, dilute Q²M WetCoat Essence down to 5:1 (water:product) and enjoy crazy beading and amazing self-cleaning for up to four months at a time. Love Q²M WetCoat but wish it offered even better value for money, and don't mind a modest drop in its performance? No problem, dilute Q²M WetCoat Essence down to 15:1 (water:product) and spend the saving on other goodies!
Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence is a highly concentrated version of Gyeon Q²M WetCoat. The original ready to use Gyeon Q²M WetCoat formula cannot be successfully diluted, nor is it made from a concentrate; rather, it is mixed to a set strength. As such, the formulation of Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence required a fresh approach, using the same silica-based protective polymers but a completely new carrier solution. Therefore, as its name implies, the essence of the original ready to use formula (in terms of its protective properties) has been incorporated into Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence, even though it is technically a different product. In use, though, this difference is negligible. Once Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence is suitably diluted, it behaves in the same way as Gyeon Q²M WetCoat and delivers the same excellent results. In fact, the only significant difference concerns the durability of the protective coating it lays down, which varies with the chosen dilution ratio (from being less durable at lower solution strengths than the original ready to use formula, to more durable at higher solution strengths). Note that the recommended dilution range for Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence is 5:1 (water:product) to 15:1 (water:product), with the equivalent strength of the original ready to use formula being approximately 8:1 (water:product).
Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence is highly concentrated and should thus be diluted to an appropriate strength before use. When higher levels of protection are required, it should be diluted between 5:1 (water:product) and 8:1 (water:product). When lower levels of protection are required, it should be diluted between 9:1 (water:product) and 15:1 (water:product). In all cases, it should be applied to cool, clean, wet surfaces at the end of your usual hand washing process (i.e. after rinsing off the shampoo). For best results, lightly mist the diluted solution on to small sections at a time (it's safe for use on all exterior surfaces) and then spread it as thinly and evenly as possible using a fresh wash mitt. After spreading it, allow it to dwell for a maximum of 1-2 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly (the use of a pressure washer is recommended). Once all sections are treated rinse one final time (to ensure that every last trace of residue is fully removed) and then towel the car dry, or else rinse it again with filtered water if you intend to leave it to dry naturally. As an approximate guide, you should be able to treat an average-sized car using just 75 ml of solution; a little goes a very long way when you apply it using the mitt method described above. Finally, note that you should never apply Gyeon Q²M WetCoat Essence in direct sunlight or allow it to dry out before rinsing it off.
