Gyeon Q² Prime is an easy to use quartz coating aimed squarely at detailing enthusiasts with an indoor workspace. Developed in South Korea, Gyeon Q² Prime uses the latest in low volatile content silicon (Si) technology to lay down a film of siloxane polymers that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to painted surfaces at the molecular level. Thanks to its unique formulation, full curing successfully occurs at temperatures as low as 5°C, which makes it ideally suited for use in unheated domestic garages. Like the other SiO2-based coatings in the Gyeon range, it delivers unbelievable looks characterised by a strong colour jetting effect and excellent reflectivity and gloss. In fact, its colour enhancing effect is easily on par with many high quality carnauba waxes, making it the perfect coating for warmer coloured paint finishes (e.g. solid reds). In addition to unbelievable looks, Gyeon Q² Prime offers a number of other benefits...
Firstly, because it contains no alcohol, it doesn't flash off rapidly upon contact, which makes it very easy to apply. In fact, with the exception of Gyeon Q² CanCoat, which is in a class of its own, Gyeon Q² Prime is by far the easiest to use quartz coating we currently stock. Secondly, because it fully crystallizes as it cures, Gyeon Q² Prime produces a substantially harder and more durable coating than many rival products. We've tested this by subjecting it to a brutal decontamination test, in which selected panels were: (i) treated with a spirit-based tar remover; (ii) treated with a strong acid-based fallout remover, and; (iii) clayed with a mild clay bar. The net effect of this treatment was only a slight reduction in beading strength compared to the day it was first applied. Furthermore, in a long-term test on a daily driver, we observed clear evidence of functioning protection through to the one year mark, which is impressive given its price and user-friendly nature.
Gyeon Q² Prime is a user-friendly quartz coating that simultaneously protects and enhances the appearance of automotive paint. Developed in South Korea, Gyeon Q² Prime uses the latest in low volatile content silicon (Si) technology to lay down a film of siloxane polymers that condense rapidly to form a fully crystallized SiO2 coating that bonds to painted surfaces at the molecular level. Unlike many rival products, Gyeon Q² Prime contains no alcohol and therefore doesn't flash off rapidly, which makes the application process much easier. On the other hand, Gyeon Q² Prime features an SiO2 content of more than 50%, which is considerably higher than that found in many rival products. This results in each coat adding, on average, one grade of hardness (1H) on the Mohs scale to the scratch resistance of the underlying paint, which helps to greatly retard the rate at which wash marring accumulates.
As a result of being coated with a smooth, dense layer of crystallized SiO2, treated surfaces become extremely hydrophobic (water-hating), which causes rainfall and rinse water to bead up and roll off very quickly. This extreme beading not only looks good, but also tends to pick up and carry away fresh contaminants, which makes routine washing easier and much safer. In addition to these benefits, Gyeon Q² Prime also provides excellent protection against bird droppings, bug splatter, road salt and harmful UV radiation for upwards of twelve months, even on daily drivers (it is virtually impervious to cleaning chemicals and pressure washing). Gyeon Q² Prime is currently supplied as a pre-packed kit containing either a 30 ml, 50 ml or 100 ml bottle of Gyeon Q² Prime, a 100 ml bottle of Gyeon Q²M Cure, a Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block, four Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes and an instruction booklet.
You should apply Gyeon Q² Prime in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In all cases, prepare the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate > polish), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. Next, using the supplied dropping pipette, lightly wet one of the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes with Gyeon Q² Prime, wrap it around the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block and begin wiping it evenly on to the first panel, using light pressure and overlapping strokes. You should aim to treat no more than a single panel at a time, because after an initial volatilization period of 1-2 minutes you must then buff off the (still wet) residue as quickly as possible, i.e. before it dries out and begins to harden. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Super Buffing Towel using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove the residue and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Using a bright light, check the panel carefully for any smears and remove them before moving on; failure to remove smears fully can result in them hardening to the point of being impossible to remove without machine polishing, so make sure you are thorough!
After all panels are treated, wait for a minimum of an hour and then apply a second coat. The car must then be left in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 12 hours to allow the SiO2 coating to harden (if you wish, you can accelerate this process by heating the treated panels to 60°C for 10 minutes using an infra-red heat lamp). Finally, to reduce the risk of water spots forming while it continues to cure (full curing takes around 14 days to achieve), you should apply a protective topcoat of Gyeon Q²M Cure (you should also avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 7 days). Please note that you must discard all used applicators and towels after you've applied each coat, because Gyeon Q² Prime hardens massively as it cures, forming a residue that has the potential to inflict severe marring or worse if applicators and towels are re-used. Furthermore, after each use you must also replace the dropping pipette with the air-tight cap, and then wash out the pipette with hot water. Failure to follow these steps will result in any leftover product setting solid in the bottle and the pipette, rendering them unusable in the future.
