Gyeon Q² Booster is an innovative topcoat for all SiO2-based paint coatings that significantly enhances their baseline hydrophobicity and durability. In simple terms, Gyeon Q² Booster makes quartz coatings bead water like you've never seen before (think extremely tall and extremely rounded beads, with contact angles of up to 120°), and this effect lasts for up to twelve months at a time. Gyeon have achieved this by simplifying the formula used to make the Q² Bead component of their flagship Q² DuraBead coating system (the chemistry of Q² Bead is designed to react specifically with Q² Mohs, whereas the chemistry of Q² Booster is designed to react with any SiO2-based coating, meaning it is fully compatible with quartz coatings from other brands). Due to the extremely hydrophobic nature of the surface layer it forms, Gyeon Q² Booster imparts a strong self-cleaning effect that actively repels fresh dirt and grime, meaning that treated surfaces stay cleaner for longer. Furthermore, this layer also helps to prevent water spots from forming on freshly applied coatings during the first few weeks after their application. One important thing to note though; Gyeon Q² Booster is not a standalone coating. If you try to use it on top of anything other than a SiO2-based coating (including bare paint) then it will not work (this is because the formula it uses will only adhere to SiO2-based surfaces).
Gyeon Q² Booster is a state of the art topcoat that significantly enhances the hydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties of all SiO2-based paint coatings for up to twelve months at a time. It achieves this by laying down a nano-scale film of organofluorine polymers with reactive silyl groups that condense rapidly to form a fluorinated surface layer that bonds to the underlying SiO2-based coating at the molecular level. Because it comprises a high proportion of organic components, this sacrificial topcoat subtly enhances the look of the underlying quartz coating and modifies its behaviour with respect to water and oil-based liquids. In particular, it makes treated surfaces extremely hydrophobic, to the point where water droplet contact angles reach 120°. This spectacular level of hydrophobicity causes rainfall and rinse water to bead up and roll off extremely quickly, which not only enhances the self-cleaning properties of treated bodywork, but also reduces the risk of water spots forming during the first few weeks following application. Moreover, treated surfaces also become naturally oil-repellent (lipophobic), meaning that it effectively seals them against graffiti and most other forms of paint. Gyeon Q² Booster is currently supplied as a pre-packed kit containing a 30 ml bottle of Gyeon Q² Booster, a Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block, four Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes and an instruction booklet.
You should apply Gyeon Q² Booster in a dry place out of direct sunlight. For best results, it should be applied to a brand new quartz coating shortly after it has dried fully (i.e. at least 1 hour after the last layer of the coating was applied and buffed off). However, Gyeon Q² Booster may also be applied to previously applied coatings, as long as they are less than six weeks old and contaminant-free. In such cases, prepare the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate) and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. In all cases, apply Gyeon Q² Booster as follows. Using the supplied dropping pipette, lightly wet one of the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Suedes with product, wrap it around the supplied Gyeon Q²M Applicator Block and wipe it evenly on to the first panel, using light pressure and overlapping strokes. Because it contains a fluorinated solvent, Gyeon Q² Booster flashes off very quickly. You should therefore treat a single panel at a time and buff off the haze immediately after. Buffing off is best accomplished with a PB Super Buffing Towel using moderate speed and pressure in order to fully remove the haze and reveal an intense streak-free shine. After all of the panels are treated the car must then be left in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 12 hours (24 hours is better) to allow the fluorinated surface layer to cure (if you wish, you can accelerate this process by heating the treated panels to 60°C for 10 minutes using an infra-red heat lamp). Once exposed to the elements, avoid washing the car with any kind of detergent for the first 7 days.
