Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun
What is a foam gun? Why are they useful? At the simplest level, a foam gun is any device that attaches to a water delivery system and mixes a shampoo-based product with the flow of water to produce thick clinging foam. Most pressure washer manufacturers produce a foam gun attachment for their units, but for those enthusiasts without a pressure washer, several manufacturers produce foam guns designed to attach to the end of a normal hose. Of these latter products, the best currently on the market is the Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun.
The idea behind applying thick clinging foam to the car before washing is simple and the benefits are obvious. If you apply a generous coating of suds to dirty surfaces and allow them to cling in situ for many minutes at a time, the emulsifiers and surfactants have longer to work and therefore dissolve and suspend a lot more dirt and grime. By the time the foam is eventually rinsed off, much of the dirt and grime is simply washed away, leaving relatively clean surfaces behind ready for the two bucket wash by hand. Clearly, the major benefit here is that the bulk of dirt removal is done before a wash mitt is placed on the car, which greatly reduces the risk of inflicting fine scratches and marring during the subsequent hand-washing process. Many enthusiasts also use the Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun during the hand-washing stage, as they move around the car with the wash mitt. This technique involves spraying foam directly into the path of the wash mitt, thus ensuring maximum lubrication as the mitt glides over underlying surfaces.
The Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun is built to last. The nozzle is constructed from solid brass, giving it excellent long-lasting performance and durability. The handle, foaming tip and reservoir lid are all made of heavy-duty plastic, while the reservoir itself is made from chemical-resistant polyethylene. The multi-ratio injector offers five settings to adjust the dilution rate from 128:1 to 10:1 (water:shampoo) and built-in filters ensure any sediment in the water supply is removed before it reaches your car. An anti-siphon valve protects the water supply by preventing soapy water from siphoning back into the hose (when the water supply is turned off, you may notice a slight discharge of water at the base of the handle - this is normal and indicates the anti-siphon valve is functioning properly). You will be amazed by the foaming power of this foam gun, and once you have adopted it into your wash routine you will not look back. For best performance and long-term value for money, we recommend using the Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun in conjunction with Meguiars Hyper Wash.
