Carlack Glass Finish

Carlack Glass Finish is an advanced solvent-based coating that lays down a homogenous film of hydrophobic additives that cure to form a fully transparent barrier layer that repels rain, sleet and snow upon contact. The coating works in conjunction with natural airflow over the car to rapidly disperse water droplets at speeds in excess of 30 mph, resulting in vastly improved visibility and driving comfort, even under extreme weather conditions.

Indeed, independent academic studies have shown that similar treatments allow drivers to recognise objects up to one second earlier in wet-weather conditions. At 60 mph, this one second advantage can reduce stopping distances by up to 30 m, making driving safer for everyone on the road. Providing that the treated surfaces were properly prepared in advance, each application of Carlack Glass Finish will last for between three to six months before needing to be reapplied.
Carlack Glass Finish is a solvent-based coating that forms a hydrophobic (water hating) barrier layer on automotive glass. It achieves this by laying down a homogenous layer of reactive compounds and additives that cure to form a fully transparent microfilm that repels rain, sleet and snow upon contact. As a result, rain drops and road spray simply bead up and roll off of treated surfaces, or are blown off by airflow when driving speeds rise above 30 mph.

In addition, this beading also tends to pick up and carry away fresh dirt and grime, meaning that the coating is partially self-cleaning (akin to the Lotus Effect in nature). Carlack Glass Finish therefore significantly improves visibility and driving comfort in poor weather conditions, and greatly reduces the need to use windscreen wipers. Furthermore, in the summer months bug splatter washes off far more easily, and in freezing conditions de-icing is more quickly achieved.
Carlack Glass Finish should be applied in a warm, dry, well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight. To protect your skin, we recommend wearing PB Nitrile Gloves during the application process. To achieve the quoted durability and performance benefits, it is necessary to properly clean the surfaces to be treated in advance. To do this, use Carlack Glass Compound to initially cut away any stubbornly bonded surface contaminants and then use Carlack Glass Clear to remove any lingering grease and grime (put simply, the cleaner the glass is before the coating is applied, the longer it will last).

Before applying the coating, shake the bottle vigorously to ensure that the contents are fully mixed. Next, lightly wet a Nanolex Cotton Applicator Pad with product and work it in to the surfaces to be treated in a circular fashion, using firm pressure. The resulting film should then be left to dry for a minimum of 10 minutes before being buffed off with a PB Utility Towel, so we recommend treating several windows at a time. If you find the residue difficult to remove then mist the treated surfaces with distilled or deionised water and continue buffing until the haziness disappears.
