Blackfire Wet Ice Over Fire Kit

This kit from Blackfire represents the final result of a fifteen year quest for the ultimate shine; a shine described in-house as wet ice over fire. What does this description really mean? In our opinion, it translates to a vibrant, laser sharp looking shine rippling with energy and shimmering liquidity. A finish that is guaranteed to turn heads and that will make you smile every time you look at your car. In a word, it is stunning. The foundation stone of the wet ice over fire shine is an initial application of Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish, which masks minor paint defects (such as wash marring and fine swirl marks) and dramatically enhances surface gloss in order to create the illusion that the paint is dripping wet. Next to be applied is a basecoat of durable synthetic protection in the form of Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection, which is a paint-friendly, water-based sealant formulated with the latest generation of crystal super-polymers. This locks in the finish created by Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish and produces an icy looking, laser-sharp shine that serves as a basecoat for subsequent layers of protection.

The fiery component of the wet ice over fire shine is then provided by multiple coats of Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax. Packed full of high quality Brazilian No.1 carnauba, this uniquely engineered wax is fortified with gloss enhancing oils and crystal super-polymers and adds rippling liquidity and intense depth to the finish. Incredibly easy to apply and buff off, it delivers a jaw dropping finish characterised by superb reflectivity, excellent flake pop and a liquid-like level of glossiness that is almost surreal. Maintenance of the wet ice over fire shine is easily performed using Blackfire Midnight Sun Instant Detailer. This quick detailing spray contains the same high quality carnauba and crystal super-polymers used in the rest of the system and can be used repeatedly to enhance gloss and extend protection without any fear of causing hazing or streaking. In fact, regular use is recommended, as it will greatly enhance surface slickness, making washing and drying even easier and prolonging the life of the underlying protective sealant and wax layers indefinitely.

Step 1 – Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish

Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish should be applied to freshly clayed paint using the supplied Meguiar’s Microfibre Applicator Pad. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per panel and these should be wiped in as thinly and evenly as possible to produce a film that should then be allowed to dry for up to 15 minutes. Once hazed over, this film should then be buffed off carefully using the supplied PB Super Buffing Towel.

Step 2 – Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection

Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection should be applied to freshly polished paint using one of the supplied Blackfire Ultimate Applicator Pads. Only 2-3 pea-sized drops of product are required per panel and these should be applied as thinly and evenly as possible to produce a film that should then be allowed to cure for up to 15 minutes. Once hazed over, this film should then be buffed off carefully using one of the supplied Poorboy’s Deluxe Mega Towels.

Step 3 – Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax

Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax should be applied to three to four panels at a time and as thinly and evenly as possible using one of the supplied Blackfire Ultimate Applicator Pads. The resulting film should then be buffed off within 5-10 minutes of application using one of the supplied Poorboy’s Deluxe Mega Towels; there is absolutely no need to allow the film to dry fully before it is removed (if you do, you will find that is more difficult to remove).

Step 4 – Blackfire Midnight Sun Instant Detailer

Lightly mist Blackfire Midnight Sun Instant Detailer over a single panel at a time, and immediately wipe the panel down to spread a thin, even film of product using one of the supplied Poorboy’s Deluxe Mega Towels. Then refold your towel, and buff the panel down carefully to fully remove the film and reveal an intense streak-free shine.

Care instructions for applicators and towels

(i) wash after each use in a washing machine at a low temperature (40 °C) using a non-biological liquid detergent (avoid soap powders and detergents containing bleach or fabric softeners); (ii) allow to dry naturally on a line or tumble dry on a cool heat setting (avoid radiators and other sources of high heat), and; (iii) store in a dry, dust-free environment whilst not in use (lidded plastic storage boxes are ideal in this respect).
