We use Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish quite often in our studio, as it is an ideal choice of polish for restoring a brilliant level of shine on neglected exhaust tips and engine bay components. Although it can be applied by hand if sufficient effort is put in, in most cases the use of a rotary style power tool makes a lot more sense and produces far superior results. When we use Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish, we typically tend do so in conjunction with a Dremel power tool fitted with a selection of different polishing brushes and heads. This usually allows short work to be made of minor oxidation and light stain removal, and is also the best way to polish out the satin look compounding haze produced by Blackfire Heavy Cut Metal Compound in cases where an aggressive initial compounding stage was required to remove more serious oxidation crusts and harsher stains.
Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish is the most widely used product in the Blackfire metal polishing system, and is suitable for most metal polishing tasks. In a single application, Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish will remove minor oxidation, compounding hazes and light stains, and restore a brilliant shine on bare metals such as aluminium, brass, copper blended metal alloys. It will quickly bring out a beautiful shine on chrome surfaces and restore an as new finish on stainless steel. It comprises an ammonia-based paste packed full of diminishing micro-abrasives and jewellers rouge, and is formulated to cling to vertical surfaces to make large panel polishing quick and easy. Note that this product is designed to leave a uniform brilliant shine in readiness for the optional final stage in the polishing process, i.e. concours level preparation, using Blackfire Metal Show Polish.
Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish may be applied by hand or machine, although the best results are always obtained using the latter. By hand, it should be applied using either a Lake Country Light Cut Hand Pad or 0000 grade steel wool. Only 1-2 pea-sized drops of product are required to polish a 6” x 6” area, and these should be worked in as firmly and evenly as possible until only a thin haze remains. This haze should then be buffed off carefully using an Atomiza Microfibre Work Towel, and the process repeated as necessary until the desired level of shine is achieved. By machine, the choice of method and polishing attachments will be largely determined by the make and model of the power tool that will be used. In general, small rotary style power tools such as those made by Dremel or Proxxon are best, as they are able to access tight recesses around tailpipes and engine bay components quite easily.
