We Say
Bilt Hamber Korrosol is designed to deal with one of the most misunderstood forms of paint contamination: embedded ferrous fallout. These microscopic iron particles originate primarily from brake dust and industrial pollution, and once bonded to paintwork they oxidise, expand and physically anchor themselves into the surface.
Unlike general-purpose wheel cleaners or acidic decontamination products, Korrosol is engineered to chemically target iron contamination without relying on aggressive acidity. Its formulation uses a reactive iron-dissolving agent that complexes with ferrous particles and converts them into a water-soluble form. The visible colour change during use isn’t just cosmetic — it’s a direct indicator that iron is actively being dissolved and released from the surface.
This controlled chemistry is important. Highly acidic products can strip protection, stain sensitive finishes, or cause long-term issues on compromised clearcoat. Korrosol instead prioritises reaction efficiency and surface safety, making it suitable for use on modern paint systems where control matters just as much as raw cleaning power.
In practical terms, Korrosol is one of those products that fundamentally improves everything that follows. Paintwork that has been properly decontaminated feels noticeably smoother, clays more cleanly, polishes more predictably, and allows sealants or coatings to bond more consistently. Used correctly, it’s not just a cleaning step — it’s a surface preparation product that directly affects final results.
For anyone serious about paint correction or long-term protection, Korrosol isn’t optional. It’s a foundational decontamination stage done properly.
Key Features
Description
Bilt Hamber Korrosol is an active fallout remover designed to dissolve embedded iron particles from automotive paintwork and lacquers. Metallic contamination (often from brake dust) can bond to the surface and oxidise over time, leaving paint feeling rough and making protection less effective. Korrosol targets those particles chemically, with a visible colour change to show it working.
Korrosol is formulated as a powerful, pH-balanced fallout remover, aiming to deliver strong decontamination performance while reducing the risks associated with highly acidic products on compromised paint systems. If you’re building a complete decontamination routine, Korrosol fits perfectly into our Iron Contamination Removers range.
For heavy wheel contamination, Bilt Hamber specifically differentiate Korrosol (paintwork-focused, spreads easily) from their wheel cleaner designed to cling on dirtier vertical surfaces. If you’re treating wheels regularly, take a look at Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel as a complementary option.

How To Use
1) Work cool: Use on cool panels out of direct sun. Do not allow the product to dry on the surface.
2) Apply: Spray an even coat onto paintwork (or contaminated areas) after washing.
3) React: Allow time for the product to react; a colour change indicates iron contamination is being dissolved.
4) Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with water. Reapply on heavily contaminated areas if needed.
5) Finish: Continue with clay (if required), polishing, or apply protection once the surface is clean.
