To minimise the risk of inflicting marring and fine scratches during the washing process, we recommend using the soft Lambswool Wash Mitt to gently clean all bodywork and glass, and the harder wearing Meguiars Microfibre Wash Mitt for tougher tasks such as washing wheels and scrubbing the insides of wheel arches. Drying off after washing is perhaps the most risky part of the whole wash process. After trying out various methods and products, we have come to the conclusion that the only way to dry off safely is to use a waffle weave microfibre towel in conjunction with the pat drying method. Poorboys Waffle Weave Towel is highly absorbent and ultra-soft, which makes it ideal for this task. Finally, the choice of shampoo is also paramount to safe and effective washing. A car shampoo needs to be sufficiently slick to allow your wash mitt to glide over the surface and also needs to emulsify and encapsulate dirt particles so that they can be wiped away without scratching underlying surfaces. A car shampoo should also be gentle enough not to strip away existing layers of wax or sealant protection.
