Many car care enthusiasts enjoy washing their cars by hand, but find the drying process frustrating. Why? Because wiping bodywork dry with a towel tends to cause marring, while leaving it to dry naturally results in water spots forming.
Water spots form when tap water evaporates, and are made of a mineral called calcium carbonate. When this mineral hardens in the sun, it becomes difficult to remove, and in extreme cases can etch the surface of the paint.
Using an Aqua Gleam 350 mm De-ionising Water Filter combats this problem by filtering out the calcium carbonate in your tap water. You can then rinse your car and leave it to dry naturally with no fear of water spots forming.
The benefits of using an Aqua Gleam 350 mm De-ionising Water Filter to purify your tap water are huge. It not only guarantees a spot-free finish, but also saves time and reduces the need for future paint correction work.
Aqua Gleam 350 mm De-ionising Water Filters purify ordinary tap water by removing calcium carbonate and other minerals. By using filtered water, you can leave your car to dry naturally with no risk of water spots forming.
As its name suggests, the 0 PPM model purifies ordinary tap water to zero parts per million (mineral content). Water this pure provides the best possible results and will meet the needs of even the most demanding enthusiasts.
In areas with particularly hard water (see map above) it is preferable to use the 30 PPM model instead, in order to prolong the life of the filter. Another option is to use the 30 PPM model in tandem with a 0 PPM filter.
The life of the filter is dependent on the amount of water used and its hardness, and can thus vary considerably (see graph above). Around ten litres of purified water is usually sufficient to rinse an average-sized car.
The filter contents will change colour when replacement is due. However, your filter will continue to perform satisfactorily for a while afterwards. You can use old and new filters in tandem to extend their life too.
You should use your Aqua Gleam 350 mm De-ionising Water Filter in-line with a standard hosepipe. Under no circumstances should you attempt to connect it to a pressure washer. If you do, you may damage it.
For best results, wash your car normally and rinse the suds away using ordinary tap water. Then, fit your Aqua Gleam 350 mm De-ionising Water Filter to your hose using the supplied fittings.
You should use your filter in an upright position (either by connecting it right at the tap, or by using Aqua Gleam Wall Mounting Clamps). Try to keep the overall length of your hose as short as possible.
Once connected, turn the tap back on, allow trapped air to be pushed out of the filter and then rinse your car thoroughly again. After rinsing, stand back and allow your car to dry naturally for a spot free finished result.
After use, allow the filter to drain fully in an upright position before packing it safely away. The filter contents are susceptible to damage by lengthy exposure to sunlight, so try to store your filter in darkness if possible.
